Terry Winters Print Collection
Terry Winters made his first lithograph in 1982, and over the course of more than four decades he has produced several hundred print editions. Winters is an innovator in a diversity of printmaking techniques and has worked with such internationally recognized print publishers as Universal Limited Art Editions, Grenfell Press, Two Palms, Aldo Crommelynck, KIDO Press, and Gemini G.E.L.
As with his drawings and paintings, Winters often organizes his prints into groups or series, and his imagery ranges from free-floating cellular structures to clustered spirals, knots, grids, and veined networks. He approaches the print medium as an opportunity to publish original images and as a means to explore collaborations with writers, among them the literary critic Jean Starobinski, the novelists Francine Prose and Ben Marcus, and the poets Eliot Weinberger, Mark Melnicove, and Peter Cole.
Dynamic, generative interrelationships exist across the artist’s various mediums; the Colby collection is also home to one Winters painting as well as two drawings and one watercolor.
